Thought
Rural folk lightly dance
For generations footfalls make
Hands held as one in line
In embroidered costumes fine
Celebrations such as these
Far from war’s destruction hand
Children chasing in between
Run gleefully upon the green
How pride and jealousy
Can fellowship’s joy destroy
Armies immune to sentiment
Reduce to ashes settlement
Reduced as well to beast
Rewards of life so hard to earn
Far removed from inward urge
Of perfection’s expressing surge
Pride and jealousy joining hands
To generosity and love transform
Golden nature free behold
No space for pride’s malicious hold
Prayer
O Lord keep me in Thy protective care far away from pride and jealousy’s destruction. By Thy transforming power convert these energies to Thy service. Grant that I may always join Thy dance constructing and adding to steps and notes through Thy creative grace.
