Thought
To hills I went for peace of mind
Leaving noisy world behind
But biting cold was no comfort
Causing skin to crack and hurt
To caves for stay of calm I went
To meditate, reflect, repent
But past ghosts came to haunt
Disturbing feelings came to taunt
To church and shrine I went and sat
Lighting wicks for this and that
But thoughts raced not settled down
And quietude those voices drown
Then in moment poise and pause
I saw that peace was not outdoors
Wherever I went with me I carried
That peace under waves was buried
Prayer
O Lord of supreme harmony and poise let me sink down deeply into Thee – that peace that does pass all understanding and that stands firm emanating waves of Thy glory; there to beam and transform.
