Thought
Ploughed ridges in sky praised
Below land churned by toil
Magic stones chiselled raised
Midst fields of grain rich in soil
Though builders have long gone
Their monumental stones remain
Memorial’s faith in standing stone
Where man and time and sun join
Over miles of rough tough terrain
In purposeful unity jealousy crushed
Muscle worked for communal gain
Pulled together roped and pushed
Lonely, proud megaliths have told
Of ancestral views of seasons kind
Teaching us - stand firm resolved
For welfare common - steady mind
Prayer
May my mind steadily face thy face, fixed on thee like megaliths that face the sun. May it be steady May we emulate the ancient quarrying communities that shaped dead rock. May we emulate their determination, dedication and single-minded purposefulness.
