Thought
Shades of green, gnarled skin
May be cut in slices thin
Awaits its fate on table top
Where also knife awaits to chop
Green gourd feels there is no haste
No one will want its bitter taste
And mango fruit that sweetly smiles
Thinks it’s exempt from deadly trials
Bitter and sweet provides a feast
Making cells from force released
Hungry eater will soon face
Life’s bitterness and sweet embrace
Death’s knife will come to cut it down
To feed the earth where gourds are found
Consider well what things we eat
When life breath leaves its central seat
Prayer
O Lord you are the hills and valleys of the road travelled; you are my companion on the way. Please fill my mind with purity keep my thoughts always tied to thee.
