Thought
Earnest pilgrim’s quest increase
Of how to pray without a cease
In midst of daily chores and home
The mind is to distractions prone
No answer told from pulpit high
No sermon satiates heart’s cry
A yearning forces it to search
Directions clear beyond a church
Lips relentlessly joined repeat
Those seeds which grow to meet
Deep thoughts in beloved steeped
Subtle findings to rewards reaped
Forms and sounds shaped to tune
Mind’s spiral inward to commune
Glorious union’s light acclaim
Open by intimate spell of name
Prayer
O Lord unfaltering guide on pilgrim’s way, grant that by Thy feet I stay. Grant that I may know the subtle secret of unceasingly praying with head, heart and hands and forever with Thy holy name repeated in my mind and on my lips.
