Thought
In monastic robes and cloak
Words to inspired he spoke
For those at distance who did plea
He raised a mound for them to see
White dove settled on the saint
Sign - with God to now acquaint
Simple austere his daily bread
No meat but leeks and herbs instead
Oxen yoked he’d not allow
His monks themselves drew the plough
Generations of Cymry him esteemed
And never in his name blasphemed
“Brothers, sisters in joy keep faith
Do the little things I do and saith
As for me I walk along that path
That saintly fathers trod in past"
Parting words for our pilgrim’s way
From David on Saint David’s day
Prayer
Lord of blessed simplicity teach me to offer the small and simple things as humble flower offerings at thy feet. Grant me the insight and compassion to feel even the smallest difficulties and sufferings of others. Fill my life with light to share with others.
