Thought
Youth snatched into slavery
To Irish lands across the sea
Six years to linger all alone
Awaiting call to Godly home
Irish ways and Irish tongue
For when spirit came along
Helmsman for faith to restore
Guides one on to freedom’s shore
From Saint Victoricus Irish talk
We beg you come among us walk
You were shepherd once and now
Tend to your Irish flock somehow
Spirit prepares for everything
Pure message and pure love to bring
Tame and take them as Lord’s flock
Teach lessons from the green shamrock
This ancient tale belongs to all
When we forget ourselves and fall
Prayer in stillness spirit found
In freedom’s island’s holy ground
Prayer
I arise today, through Thy strength to pilot me, Thy might to uphold me, Thy wisdom to guide me. Christ with me, before me, behind me, beneath and above me. Thee on my left and on my right; when I lie down, when I sit and rise. In the heart of every man who thinks of me. Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, in every eye that sees me and in every ear that hears me. (from St Patrick Prayer)
