Monkeys that roam and rob
On branches their heads bob
Grab chance to pick and eat
Restless scratching on their seat
Chattering mind longs for calm
But attention jumps to disarm
Intentions made and newly born
Rent apart like new clothes torn
Longing not for calm but God
Settles mind and evens odd
Child bored with a candy stick
Cries so Mother ‘s steps are quick
Prayer
O Lord replace my mind’s restlessness for the world with restlessness for Thee. May my eyes forever be fixed on Thine eyes and may my heart’s rhythm beat in unison with Thine. Increase my longing through Thy grace.
