Thought

At turn of dusky fading day

Last orange reds linger spread

Lamps lit keep the dark at bay

Food prepared and hungry fed

Inner lamp lights child’s face

Clear beams shine innocence

Truth taken simply as embrace

As playful words take no offense

Purity and beauty both will shine

Like infant’s open wonder gaze

When forgetting “I” and “mine”

Outgrows an adult ignorant phase

Prayer

O Lord I am only a child, but I am your child. Forgetting this I become childish instead. Be my playmate and dance a while as I leave off my foolish self-consciousness.
