How to unfold graciously
Select right nutrients to live
Be strong defying gravity
Be rigid yet flex and give
Its god be shining disc of sun
It grows and spreads to reach
Harbours home for everyone
Silent still with much to teach
How to use sunlight it knows
For its leaves are factory cells
Its offering of gas to air goes
Without this air no life dwells
Despite its wonder we bypass
This model of the universe
Next time you see a single tree
Bow your head and bend your knee
Prayer
O Lord of life, you reveal yourself in the wondrous silent tree. It is easy to see how Thy whole universe is modelled in this way. Grant me the grace to love Thee in through and as every organic expression of Thy eternal life, light and love.
