Thought
At turn of dusky fading day
Last orange reds linger spread
Lamps lit to keep the dark at bay
Food prepared and hungry fed
Inner lamp lights child’s face
Clear beams shine innocence
Truth simply taken as embrace
Playful words take no offense
Purity and beauty both will shine
Like infant’s open wonder gaze
When forgetting “I” and “mine”
We outgrow adult ignorant phase
Prayer
O Lord I am only a child, but I am your child. Forgetting this I become childish instead. Be my playmate and dance a while as I leave off my foolish self-consciousness.
